Our Story

His Perspective

It was a cold night in December 2016 and the theme was “Overdressed & Overserved.” Two people from different backgrounds and no knowledge of the other both arrived. One was dressed in a three-piece suit. The other strolled in curls bouncing in her hair and ready to dance. That night the two crossed paths and the overdressed man asked the overserved girl on a date.

Two weeks later a text message was sent. It surprised the young man who never thought he would see or get the opportunity to go on the date he very much had hoped. The two agreed to meet after work at La Perla located downtown Fort Worth. The young lad arrived early and made sure to where his best suit. Shortly later the beautiful young lady arrived. Unbeknownst to the overdressed man, the beautiful young lady arrived thinking she was going on a date with a very different person. The two shared drinks and conversation which continued in to a very nice dinner. This date led to many more until the very famous Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo arrived in Cowtown. While the rodeo may have put a slight break on the relationship, it did not deter from the relationship continuing.

There was a small gap… the “gap” ended with two young naïve lovers crossing paths again. It was a random occasion and some could even call it fate. All it took was one margarita and the flame was re-ignited. Three years later and the young couple have fallen more deeply in love with the plan to spend the rest of their lives together.

Her Perspective

Collin and I met in December of 2016 at one of our favorite Christmas parties of the year, “Overdressed and Overserved” hosted by the sweet Will Whitten. I remember arriving late, making my rounds to say hello, and trying to play catch-up with all the overdressed and overserved. It was not long before Collin came up to me and asked for my number. “I never do this, but can I have your number?” I gave him my number and we both went our separate ways. Flash forward a week later, I forgot about the text and found it while scrolling through my phone. I remember thinking to myself, who is this guy. He only sent his first name, so I really had no way of browsing social media search engines with “tall, dark, handsome guy named Collin who also enjoys being overdressed and overserved.” I sent a follow up text saying I was sorry for my late response but hey, things happen. We texted for several days and finally met up at La Perla in downtown Fort Worth. I went in to the date thinking he was another guy from the party. Silver Lining, he was not!

Flash-forward three years later, January 16th, 2020, Collin proposed. Hundreds of candles, roses, our puppy (large puppy) Bear, me, and the most handsome overdressed man. The proposal was followed by a “surprise” engagement celebration with many whom also attended the “Overdressed and Overserved” party in December of 2016.

I’m forever grateful for our favorite Christmas party where we met, the friends we have made along the way, and the best family Collin and I could ask for. We truly cannot wait to celebrate with all of you in Mexico and from afar!
